Hot New Hip-hop Music Of September

Marquese Garrett, Social Media Editor

Music is something that drives us all from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed. Everyone has a genre of music that they prefer, but some may not have the time to stay updated with everything that happens on a daily basis. I’m here to give you an update on upcoming and new music that has dropped this month. If you’re a fan of Hip-hop these artists and albums I would check out.

The first artist formally goes by “G Herbo” also known as Lil Herb, relates his own life experiences to his audience in his music. His debut album “Humble Beast” was highly anticipated. Hot New Hip Hop rated the album with a 90% overall, which is extremely high for any rapper.

Another highly anticipated Hip-hop album was dropped by an artist who has recently been in legal trouble: Kevin Gates. After finishing out a six-month jail sentence, the “2 Phones” artist was held for separate felony charges, transferred to Chicago, denied bail, then sentenced to over two years behind bars. Somehow he persevered and released “By Any Means 2” while behind bars. which got high

Another Grammy award winning Hip-Hop artist, Macklemore, dropped an album named “GEMINI” so go give that listen if you like his famous song “Thrift Shop.”

However if you really don’t like hardcore street music, a R&B/Soul artist, Jhene Aiko, recently dropped her surprise album “Trip” laced with a whopping 22 tracks total. This album was a follow up to last year’s “Twenty88” project with her boyfriend Big Sean, which featured a slew of guest appearances including Swae Lee (“Sativa”), Kurupt (“Never Call Me”), Brandy (“Ascension”), Mali Music (“Trip”) and more. Of course, Big Sean makes an appearance on the song “Moments,” while her father Dr. Chill and daughter Namiko Love also make appearances.

Another female artist to look out for who surpassed Taylor Swift on the “Billboard The Hot 100” is Cardi B with her famous song “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves).” She is currently number 1 on the Hot 100 so keep an eye out for her, as she might be the next big female rapper.

Now if you want a more spiritual rapper, Lecrae would definitely be someone I would recommend. With his new album “All Things Work Together,” the Christian rapper gives you a look into his mind and into his outlook on the world. In my opinion, as a Christian, Lecrae is more than just “some rapper.” The Houston-native is an activist, producer, actor, and a published author, so if you’re looking for a different type of rap go give it a try.

Another group that gets slept on by the world is Audio Push, they came out with the famous song back in 2009 “Teach Me How To Jerk.” Since then, everyone seems so hateful towards them, but they have come a long way from 2009. Recently they dropped an album, “Last Lights Left”, which a lot of people didn’t know came out. It’s filled with punch lines and real life events and is another album that I would definitely recommend giving a look at.
