Most people would like to build self-confidence, motivation, and enthusiasm. Health Occupations Students of America(HOSA) is widely seen as a place to develop these skills. Allen Community College hosts a chapter of HOSA and is accepting new members.
HOSA’s mission is to empower future health care professionals to become leaders in global health community through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA’s motto this year is Powered by the people. The four core values of HOSA are to learn, lead, serve, and innovate!
According to Leslie Weir, HOSA member and allied health instructor, HOSA looks amazing on a resume or job interview.
“You can go to class, you can make the grades, but you need to do something to make yourself stand out, and HOSA does that!” Weir said.
Ms. Weir says the area chapter’s goal is to qualify everyone in nationals. That is a big ambition as there were 11,000 competitors as well as 54 associations involved in 2024. Next year’s Nationals are set for June 25th, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee.
