Allen Community College students and the Iola community will benefit from local restaurateur Marshall Barnhart’s dream to become a music promoter. For the third year in a row Dudley’s Done Right Barbeque will be hosting Rocktoberfest on Oct 6, 2018.

Barnhart will stage a rock/metal concert at Dudley’s, with this years lineup featuring Church, Framing The Red, Everybody Panic, Motor Gun Hotel, A Killer’s Confession, Nothing, Silent Theory, Malus Dextra and many more. There will be drinks and food on sale, and starting this year there is going to be an admissions fee of $10.

Believe it or not, food has been the one of the main driving forces to what Barnhart has been able to be accomplish.

“Food is what got us into the music industry and it was kind of by accident. As we were cooking food (the people) smelled it and came to us and asked if we would share and we did and it just grew from there,” Barnhart said.

Originally a passion project of selling food out of his barbecue trailer eventually grew enough for him to open up a full-time restaurant. Food is just one of those things that bring people together, which led to what is Rocktoberfest.

This year Barnhart has started a music promotion company called Loyalty Within. He currently has six shows planned in three states, including a concert in Chanute this year on Oct. 13.

Barnhart hopes to have 10 shows across the United States by 2020.

While any business must make a profit, Barnhart said his music venture is more than a money-making venture.

“Being able to put on these concerts that some people would not be able to see and watching them go home happy is the best payment I could receive,” said Barnhart.
