What does it mean to be an outstanding student from the vast pool of college students?
Briana Richardson is the one that can easily answer that question. Being a vice president for Allen Community College’s Student Senate, captain of the Academic Excellence Challenge team, a Students Ambassador, a staff member of The Torch Yearbook, a volunteer for Allen County Historical Society Museum, a work-study student for Student Services and an employee of Pizza Hut off campus, this lady certainly knows how to excel in a college life.
Coming from Topeka, Briana decided to pursue art at Allen. This is her first semester here. Further, her plans include transferring to either John Brown or Kansas University, where she will have a chance to complete her bachelor’s degree in psychology, business or photography.
Briana is a brilliant student in all of her classes. And even though her academic schedule keeps her busy, she finds the ways to dedicate herself to many different activities.
Briana says, “That is great to be involved and have responsibility, to balance social and school life, in order to stay productive during these two years at the college.”
She believes that being active and curious, one can gain a college experience and feeling of belonging. She describes all of her interests as being a bridge to realize her potential and raise the bar higher and higher for herself.
Briana is passionate to grow on the academic and extracurricular ladder; she is excited to meet different people, seek new experiences and make the changes that can better the lives of the current students within Allen’s walls.
Up to now, her favorite involvement is Student Senate. She shares, “I like to listen to the students’ opinions and be able to help them with their concerns. Being in the Student Senate, I can be in charge to help them realize their needs and wants.”
Briana is dedicated to have an impact on the current students and Allen itself. She desires to make as many changes as possible to help students enjoy their time at Allen.
