This semester at Allen Community college there has been a decent amount of games for the students put on by the Student Life department. Interestingly, over half of these games have been won by one person, Dickson Phoon, a freshman at Allen Community College.
Phoon is the well-known winner of said activities. These extracurricular activities included things like Grocery Bingo and two different games of Assassin Tag.
When asked how winning numerous games made him feel, Phoon responded that it makes him feel quite good about himself in that he has come to realize that, if he puts his mind to something, he can and will do it.
When playing a game like Assassin Tag, it is important to have people that one can trust and help when needed. Phoon said that, if he were to have a secret, it would be that he knows the right people and that trust goes both ways.
During the most recent game of Assassin’s Tag, they added the element of staff being able to join and play. In Assassin’s Tag, participants were assigned “targets” to tag. Designated “safe zones”, where no one could be tagged, were places such as classrooms, the cafeteria, and offices. With instructors being added to the game, winning became harder because instructors were always in the designated safe zones. Phoon himself was assigned an instructor and the way he successfully tagged his target was by enlisting the help of the teacher that they share an office with, successfully getting his target to leave their office.
With there being a lot more people in the second round of Assassin Tag, Phoon mentioned that he felt more confident and was not as worried about getting tagged as much because the probability of being near someone hunting him was low.
Having won so many events, it could be seen as suspicious. So what did Phoon have to say about this thought? “I see how it could be sine I have won all of the highly reported events but I just play to my best abilities and if anyone wants to challenge me go ahead” said Phoon.
