Four Allen Community College sophomores represented the school at he 23rd Annual Kansas All-State Academic Team banquet Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Ramada Inn at Topeka.

Attending from Allen’s Burlingame Campus were Daniel Martin and Anne Ginzel, while Ryan Yarde and Madison Folsom represented the Iola Campus.

The event is co-sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa and Kansas Association of Community College Trustees.

Each PTK chapter in the state selects two students to represent them as All-Kansas Scholars.  They are required to have at least 36 credit hours with at least a 3.5 grade point average and be planning to transfer to a university.

They had to complete an extensive essay application for the All-Kansas Scholar award.

“Our chapter  had 26 excellent applicants from the Burlingame and Iola campuses, online learning, and concurrent high schools,” Sharon Lawless, PTK advisor at Burlingame, said. “It was a very difficult selection process.”
