As fall sports at Allen Community College came to an end, everyone was looking to the future of their programs. The women’s volleyball team concluded its season 5-25. Obviously, it was not what they expected.

“Not in our favor” said Sam Gulley, defensive specialist for the Lady Red Devils. “We would fight and fight, but nothing would seem to go our way.”

Although the Red Devils didn’t have the best season, they are already looking into the future. All the returning Red Devils have resigned. The freshmen are saying goodbye to old teammates and saying hello to new ones. The coaching staff has already signed a couple new recruits in pursuit of a successful season.

Going 5-25 is very frustrating but Gulley is very motivated to be successful. “With extra work we can bounce back next year and definitely do a lot better,” she said.

Off season is the best time to put in extra time on the court and in the weight room. The same month their season ended they started off-season workouts.

“We’re kind of working harder than before. We’re changing our training to be more difficult and it’s already paying off,” Gulley noted. “I’m excited to see what happens when we continue this hard work through next season.”

They have strength and conditioning every other day. Then they have open gyms on the other two days. All the work that they are putting in will hopefully pay off next season.

“There are no off days,” Gulley noted.
