People know them for being one of the most influential bands in history. The Beatles were an iconic English rock band. There have been several movies produced about them as a group, but what do we really know about them as individuals? A new set of biopics will seek to answer that very question.
Sam Mendes best known for his films “Skyfall” and “American Beauty” is hoping to create four biopics on each member of The Beatles. With the biopics, they will focus on each member’s personal story from their own perspective viewpoint. The movies will also follow the band’s creation to their split in 1970.
Movies about celebrities’ personal lives have been being produced for years, but as of recent, biopics have seemed to blossom back into a new trend in Hollywood. In 2018, “Bohemian Rhapsody” was released about Freddie Mercury and Queen. Then there was “Rocketman” in 2019 about Elton John, and in 2022, the film “Elvis” about the late Elvis Presley. Finally, the most recent one “Bob Marley: One Love” was released just this year.
According to Sony Pictures, surviving Beatles members John Lennon and George Harris are giving Mendes and the other producers full rights to The Beatles music and their life stories for this project. These biopics seem to be a great way to really focus on each member’s personal stories to give us a better idea of who they really were. No casting decisions have been made yet for the upcoming films, but Sam Mendes expects each biopic to be released by 2027.
