Fall is here again! With it, a new semester at Allen Community College is in session. The Allen Flame returns but with fresh new faces. Each of these students will produce new articles for The Allen Flame in coming weeks, so stay tuned.
The Allen Flame welcomes several newcomers. This year’s Student Reporters are: Freshman Emmett Brittain, Freshman Aybrei Jacobs, Freshman Lea Parker, and Freshman Alyssa Winsler. They are joined by a Student Contributer Anabeth Ratzly and led by Sponsor Alex Simpson.
Freshman Emmett Brittain comes from Yates Center High School, in Yates Center, Kansas. Brittain joined The Allen Flame on scholarship and is currently undecided on his major.
Freshmen Aybrei Jacobs also comes from Yates Center High School. She came to Allen on a cheer and dance scholarship but has joined the flame to improve her communication skills.
Freshmen Lea Parker comes from Mission valley High School in Eskridge, Kansas. Parker is dual majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology. She joined The Flame on an activity scholarship.
Freshmen Alyssa Winsler comes from Santa Fe Trail High School in Carbondale, Kansas. Winsler is majoring in History. She joined The Flame on an activity scholarship and because she has taken journalism classes and really enjoyed them.
Student Contributor Anabeth Ratzlaff comes from Ingalls High School in Ingalls, Kansas. She joined the flame as a contributor because she has a passion for writing. Art has always been important to Ratzlaff, and she dreams of designing movie posters or doing freelance work.
This group of intrepid student reporters is led by continuing Allen Flame Sponsor, Alex Simpson. Simpson has a background in teaching writing and loves helping new students bring out their writing skills. He is not only the adviser of the Allen Flame but also an advisor for the Allen Community College’s new and incoming students.
As the college makes its way through the fifth week of school, The Allen Flame news team will begin bringing readers captivating news stories, making the Allen Community College’s Centennial Academic Year of 2023-2024 a fantastic one.
