On Monday, Feb. 3, students, staff and community members are welcome from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Stadler Conference Room of the Student Center at Allen Community College for a Red Cross blood drive.

To prepare for donation, make sure to get a good night’s sleep and eat at least three hours before donating. Avoid fatty foods such as hamburgers, fries, and ice cream. Drink an extra 16 ounces of water the day of donation.

On the day of your donation bring a photo identification and have a list of any medications being taken.

After donation, avoid intense or heavy lifting and exercise and hydrate.

Donors will receive free pizza and refreshments along with a free movie night pass.

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. When a potential donor donates one pint of blood, that donation has the possibility of saving three lives, according to the Red Cross.
