Dr. Jeffery Anderson is a music instructor at Allen, and will show off his clarinet skills this Sunday, February 17 in the Iola Area Symphony.

Allen Community College instrumental music instructor Jeffrey Anderson will be featured in Sunday’s winter concert by the Iola Area Symphony.

The concert will be at 3 p.m. at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $5, but Allen students will be admitted for free.

Anderson will play the Mozart Clarinet Concerto from memory, a 25-minute, three-movement work that is perhaps the most iconic piece in the clarinet repertoire. Also, Allen student Paul Borcherding is in the orchestra playing flute.

Other pieces on the program are Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (for orchestra, no piano soloist), Ravel’s Bolero, the Clarinet Polka and Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, narrated by new Bowlus Director Daniel Kays.
