Adrinson ‘Junior’ Yanes

Adrinson Yanes, who goes by the nickname Junior, arrived in Iola this fall from San Juan, Puerto Rico, but originally he is from Venezuela. At 17, Yanes came to Allen Community College as a freshman student. He studied and played baseball in Next Level America Academy in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. Yanes is getting his degree in communications. He has never written for any newspapers before so joining the Allen Flame is a big opportunity for him to get some experience in journalism.

“I would like to be a reporter one day here in states,” Yanes said.

He loves playing baseball; he planned to join the Red Devils baseball team but because the team was full of players he could not be a part of it this year. Besides baseball Adrinson enjoys art and listening to music.

Yanes visited the United States before, visiting Florida and Texas.

“I have never seen snow before, so I am excited to experience winter here in Kansas,” he said. Although Yanes does not know yet what university he wants to go to after graduating from Allen, he knows for sure that it is going to be a school in the states.
