Anna Mammedova — Features Editor

Anna Mammedova, the younger sister of two, is an 18-year-old sophomore from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Unlike the United States, in Turkmenistan the schools are distinguished by numbers and not by names, so her school was #32. Her college major is marketing but at Allen Community College she is listed as a communications major.

She belongs to Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and to the Executive Board of the Student Senate. Her first time in the United States was August 2013 when she enrolled her and earned a theater scholarship to Allen. She joined the college newspaper during her first semester, and now she is in her third semester on the Flame’s staff. She also belongs to the drama department, but besides her college activities she has other interests.

Mammedova is an adventurer that likes working out at the fitness center, reading, meeting new people and travel. She has been in many places like Florida, New York, Virginia, Oklahoma and New Jersey. She desires to visit Germany someday, and the reason for this is that she learned a little bit of German when she studied in Russia on a scholarship she received.
